Two of eleven Australian-produced series filmed recently for Hope Channel have been produced especially for Australia’s Indigenous population.
The joint venture between Hope Channel and the Australian Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church, was filmed at Jumbunna Lodge just outside of Melbourne over a six-week period. It means that learning more about Jesus and the SDA Church can be contextualised to the Australian culture.
A 13-part series filmed in July featured ATSIM’s Associate Director, Pastor Don Fehlberg. The series appropriately named “Outback Adventures with Pastor Don” consists of pictures of the places Don has visited, and stories of what God is doing in the lives of Aboriginal people.
The second series fi lmed in August called “Sacred Messages Down Under” featured seven Indigenous pastors and church workers – Pastor Darren Garlett, Robert Dorante, Johnny Murison, Lynelda Tippo, Richard Reid, Leo Wright and Ray Pierce – who presented essential topics of the Christian message.
Series host Kelly Jackman interviewed the guest speakers before their presentation. She gave each person the opportunity to share personal stories of how God has led in their lives. Each show includes special music by Garth and Rosie Fatnowna.Hope Channel is currently shown in many remote communities in Australia as well as over 13 countries worldwide. The first Australian program on Hope Channel goes to air in October 2008.
